SPG Minutes Wednesday 16th November 2016 A meeting of the SPG was held on Wednesday 16th November at the Gosforth Hotel, convening at 8pm. Those present, in round the table order were Adrian Morley, David Appleton, Maureen Angus, David Robinson, Mary-Clare Robinson, Tom Ashcroft, Catherine Ashcroft, Chris Wright and Brian Angus. Apologies were received from James Hendry who had a prearranged band rehearsal in preparation for an important gig. Whilst the longitudinal seating arrangement was not ideal, many interesting conversations were held. Adrian and David discussed Adrian’s new studio location for exhibiting his paintings in Hexham, run by the Chilean painter Enrique Azocar, who also conducts classes in his premises. A link to his fascinating website is presented below. David Appleton, as usual chided Brian for his inability to understand the rules for the selection of meeting days. Maureen and David R chatted in an animated manner, possibly about grandchildren. Mary-Clare commented on the continuing staffing problems in the Department, including the recent unfortunate injury to a member of staff resulting in necessity of absence for some weeks. Tom and Catherine Ashcroft said that the recent move of Tom and Margaret into their new accommodation had gone well; Adrian had visited and commented on the salubrious nature of the development almost overlooking the Town Moor. Chris and Brian lamented the vicissitudes of progressing years, but once they had got their own troubles out of the way they compared notes on the problems both their fathers had experienced in recent times. Fine speciality ales and other refreshments were consumed, and superb traditional pub fare was served including full English Breakfasts and delicious Bacon Rolls. The meeting closed between 10 and 10.15pm. The next meeting will be held on Thursday 15th December, venue to be announced.
