SPG Minutes for the Meeting of Thursday 8th February 2018 A meeting of the SPG was held on the 8th February 2018. Members convened at Twin Farms Gastro Pub Kenton at 8 pm. Those present, in round the table order were Maureen Angus, Mary-Clare Robinson, David Robinson, David Appleton, Adrian Morley, Brian Angus and Helen .Stephenson..attending for the first time (vide infra). Apologies were received from James Henry, busy with work, Chris Wright, preparing for the marriage of his son Thomas that weekend, and Catherine Ashcroft on behalf of Tom and Margaret. She passed on the best wishes of her family to the meeting. Members wished Chris, Kath and the happy couple a splendid day.
Members were pleased to hear reports on the improvement in the condition of our colleague and friend Mark Bennett and wish him further progress in his recovery.
Members were pleased to welcome to the meeting, Helen Stephenson. a friend of Adrian’s and neighbour sharing his interest in painting and Enrico Azocar as a tutor, whilst diverse on subject matter, (portraits vs landscapes) and medium (oils vs acrylics).
Vermin of the rodent kind were a principal topic of conversation. Mary-Clare reported a major mouse infestation due to their attraction to bird food in their garage. Some mice transported grain into David’s trainers, but transferred their interest to eating the trainer fabric instead of the seed. A couple of the creatures soon found themselves paws up. Mary-Clare also related how (as an Allotment Committee Member) she was asked to deal with rabbits fond of the luscious vegetables available and was requested to have the furry animals shot; she declined and the bunnies remained well fed. Brian retold Maureen’s story of a report by a tenant in a flat she rents out, of mouse infestation. She asked her agent to deal with it, expecting Rentokil to be called. Her agent told her he had bought a mouse trap at Homebase and delivered it to the tenant.
The food served by Twin Farms was excellent in the opinion of this recorder; fat juicy mussels with garlic and wine sauce for example. Fine ales and other drinks were consumed. Members began to depart at 10pm, perhaps a little later, and all seemed content after an enjoyable meeting. A suggested date for our next meeting might be Mon 12 Mar (Day after Mothers day)
