Minutes of a meeting of the SPG held on Thursday 9th May at the Twin Farms, starting at 8pm In attendance: David and Mary Robinson, Maureen Angus, Phil and Ros Sloane, David Appleton, Adrian Morley, Chris and Kath Wright Apologies: received from Brian Angus and James and Yvonne Henry
Members were delighted to find that David Appleton had come along, and was drinking beer, despite his very recent surgery, and he was warmly welcomed. The Robinsons described their recent lucky escape after a major gas leak, surprisingly detected by one of their grandchildren.
Kath Wright was questioned about interest in her book and a recent invite to Milan; the resulting, rather erudite discussion about the cathedrals of Milan, Cologne and elsewhere somehow led by a circuitous and now forgotten route to a conversation about the intelligence of spaniels.
Intriguing news was revealed about the return to the UK of Alastair Burt, and an upcoming visit to the department at the RVI; further developments are awaited. Phil and Ros are about to visit their new grandchild in Germany, and this brought to mind the recent arrival of the royal baby: members were amused to hear that the royal family may have taken advice from David and Mary about the baby’s name since the Robinson’s cat is called Archie, and their daughter’s tortoise, Harrison… A variety of large meals were enjoyed and the meeting concluded at 10.30pm.
